100 Comics Positives For 2013: Direct Market Sales

I don't know that any of the usual suspects have called 2013 an overall positive in terms of sales, at least not yet, but the year-to-date figures used at places like The Comics Chronicles would indicate that we're headed in that direction. I think that's a good thing; I think the kinds of comics that sell in comic book shops best are exactly the kinds of comics where there's still significant growth potential, which I know puts me slightly at odds with a number of my peers. At any rate, when sales are good, that's a positive. It's not the only positive, particularly if you look at the long game, but it's difficult to recast any sort of positive sales momentum as something pushing us in the opposite direction. I hope as many retailers as possible had a good year. I do love a comic book store.
