50 Comics Positives In 2012: Mike Catron, Preston White Returned To Work For Fantagraphics
I'm not all the way sure why this story made me smile, as a lot of comics veterans return to companies for whom they've worked intermittently over the years. But the thought of Fantagraphics in its "we publish 100 books for the book market a year" phase having the same four guys on hand that crammed into a DC-area apartment 30-35 years ago to crank out issues of The Comics Journal struck me as something worth celebrating. One neat thing if you watch that publisher closely is you can sort of see how company co-founder Catron in particular applied his skill set in relation to the since better-known Groth/Thompson partnership. Anyway, I'm a sucker for "getting the band back together" and for comics' penchant not to show people the door just because they're older than 50.
