50 Comics Positives In 2012: That Unbelievable Gathering Of Talent In Chicago
I would take a half-day off of work on my dime to see any of the guests at this year's conference of cartoonists in Chicago. The fact that there were so many great talents all in one place for a serious discussion of their work divorced from any and all direct attention to commerce is an amazing thing to me. I think it was Sean T. Collins that said one of the great things about this group is that they were all pretty self-actualized, that they pretty much had the careers they had secured for themselves. It's nice to reminded that that's possible, and that so much quality art can be the result.
