Assembled, Zipped, Transferred And Downloaded: Digital News
By Tom Spurgeon
* Alternative Comics plans an e-book release
of some of Noah Van Sciver's diary comics from late in 2013. I like those comics.
* I haven't seen a whole lot of best-of action aimed squarely at the webcomics world, but here's one
* this Wired list of best comics
includes a digital component and orients the entire list towards using digital means to secure that comics, even if it's only available in print. I'm not sure how this all that different than what most lists doing at this point, but I'll cede the point to Wired
's general ability not to be confused and old about digital comics subjects, like some people
* this explains a lot
* finally, the writer and consultant Rob Salkowitz's general point of view on comics as the spear tip on a nerd culture poking at the ribs of American culture doesn't always interest me all that much, but I'm always intrigued by his subpoints as they relate to the art form. In this piece
he wonders out loud if the digital audience for comics thus far hasn't been people returning to the habit as opposed to new readers. I don't think that's an issue right away, but I think it would have to be over the long haul.
