Frank Rizzo On The AJC Only Dropping A Half-Page Of Comics
posted January 14, 2009

It's a minor point, but in the interest of accuracy I'd like to note that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution did NOT drop "one whole page" of comics this week. We dropped one-half page of comics: 11 strips in all. (The other half of that page was crossword puzzles, horoscopes and features of that ilk, which were relocated to another page).

So we went from 33 comics on two pages last week to 22 comics on one page this week. (Actually, we have 20 comics and space for two more, which will be in place next week after readers vote to reinstate two of the 13 dropped comics).

In addition, we have three comics on other pages in the newspaper, so the total count went from 36 to 25. Just under a third of our comics were dropped.

That's certainly bad enough; no need to make it sound worse!

Tom Spurgeon: My apologies; I should have verified.
