Shawn Bowman On Portland (OR) Graphic Novel Tours
posted February 2, 2009

I wanted to let you know about a project I’m putting together on behalf of PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Arts) department of Continuing Education…At the beginning of the month most of the galleries in Portland hang new shows and throw a city wide open house. It’s a pretty lively party and a number of the venues specialize in sequential based pieces and art inspired by and for comics. For the next few months I’ll be hosting a guided walks of show openings beginning this Thursday February 5th, with an intensive look at new work relating to graphic novels. We'll begin the tours at Floating World Comics on 5th and Couch streets promptly at 6:30 p.m. Tours will stop at Upper Playground, JustBe Compound, Backspace Café, the Sequential Art Gallery and Pony Club along with new galleries and other shows at the Everett St. Lofts. Time permitting, we'll wind up the evening with a brief comics jam and opportunity to post work on the PNCA web comic site. Our "artist in residence" for February’s walk is the amazing talented and fun to talk to Jamie S. Rich. Co-creator of the "Love the Way You Love" series, and forthcoming detective comic, “You Have Killed Me” published by Oni Press.

? Many thanks and best wishes.
