The Honourable Bob Rae is the Liberal Party of Canada's foreign affairs critic, as in he represents the official opposition in the House of Commons on matters related to international policy. Rae was the premier (Canadian equivalent of governor) of Ontario from 1990 to 1995. He is also a respected author, academic and statesman, having written reports on the Air India terrorist attack for the Canadian federal government, taught at the University of Toronto and served as a moderator of talks between the Sri Lankan government and Tamil rebels. Back in the day, he was a Rhodes scholar.
So he's not a "critic" in that sense of the word. But he is a pretty big deal!
