For Immediate Release:

New Message Board for Comic Books Insights: BeyondTheBleed.com

October 8, 2009 - Boston, MA. Officially starting Saturday, October 10, 2009, a new message board site goes live to incite discussion of comic books & graphic novels' cultural impact: www.BeyondTheBleed.com. The brainchild of writers A. David Lewis (The Lone and Level Sands, Some New Kind of Slaughter) and Saurav Mohapatra (Mumbai Confidential, India Authentic), these free discussion forums welcome conversation about comics in academia, comics adaptations, comics in religion, comics in art theory, and comics in culture – anything not on the actual comic book pages themselves. The initial site will also feature creator forums for Jason Becker, Chandra Free, Josh Hechinger, Patrick McEvoy, Tom Pinchuk, Kat Rocha, Alex Sheikman, Jeremy Shepherd & Brian Churilla, Mark Smylie, and Guin Thompson, to start.

In the early site postings, Lewis explains the rationale for the site:

"The comics page -- that hand-drawn minicomic or that mult-volume, reprinted, summer crossover event set of trade paperbacks -- is the stone dropped in the lake. At BtB, we aim to consider the lake itself and the ripples comics create, not the stone itself. It's an attempt to get beyond the gushing hero worship or the bleeding creative struggles. It's about what's not on the turning pages and, instead, what the pages are turning on. "

Web browsers are welcome to visit www.BeyondTheBleed.com now for free regtistration ahead of its Saturday launch. BtB is also designed for easy PDA and mobile phone access.
