John Vest On Brian Bendis' and Alex Maleev's Ultimate Daredevil Collection Volume One
posted July 8, 2010

I've been looking forward to the release of the Daredevil Ultimate volumes. The Bendis/Maleev comics were irresistible reading, fun to see in each new collection.

It was inevitable during the five year storyline that Matt Murdock would end at rock bottom, like the protagonist in a 50's crime noir paperback original. Even with Ed Brubaker scripting the succeeding issues, the series felt off-kilter. It's almost as if the later years of the title have contained "imaginary" stories and Matt Murdock is actually rotting in a prison somewhere.
