Michael May On High Standards For Comics Peer Reviews posted February 19, 2011
Hi, Tom. First of all, thanks for the comments about the article I wrote for Robot 6. I always enjoy reading your observations about the industry, but of course its especially nice when it's in response to something I've been thinking about as well.
My main reason for this email though is to agree with you about storytellers' being very tough about which of their peers' work they talk about. In my article, I stated my intention to buy more creator-recommended books, but that resolve will die in a hurry if the creators doing the recommending don't have high standards. If you're interested, Scott Wegener touched on this very thing recently on his blog as well: http://www.atomic-robo.com/2011/02/07/new-technology-technical-difficulties/
I didn't explicitly state the importance of that caveat in my article, so I appreciate your making the point on TCR.
