Go, Read: Michael Dooley’s List Of Prominent Comics Works That Have Been Challenged In Libraries
Michael Dooley wrote about comics censorship from a broad, historical perspective in the latest issue of
Print. As an on-line supplement to that piece,
he has penned a piece on recent challenges to considerable comics work available here. The two things that jumped out at me were 1) the range of material that is challenged, from the "oh you have to be kidding me" to "wow, that was in a library?" and 2) the range of final results. I think there's a lot of discussion yet to be had about what work is available where, and I think the best way to have that conversation is with the free-speech principle aspects of that conversation loaded for bear.
