Random Comics News Story Round-Up

* these lengthy, scattered Jeet Heer posts
sure are something.

*
Again With The Comics takes a look at the legendary "Marvel Benefit Issue" of
Coober Skeber, which I think was the magazine's second issue (I should probably just look). That book was a lot of fun but thinking about the politics involved and the cultural acceptance of certain ideas in comics,
holy crap that was a long, long, long time ago.
* a huge number of Hergé works
are going for sale at auction. I'm not sure this article describes exactly what's going up, but it gives you a rough idea.
* the writer, editor, publisher Gary Groth responds to a Jeet Heer mini-essay about
cartoonists experiencing mid-life crises.
* the cartoonist Paul Hornschemeier
will draw for you. His custom art always looks great.
* man, the
Wired readers who responded to the must-read comics question
have really restrictive tastes.
* finally, nearly $43K
has been raised in initial efforts on behalf of an endowed fund in the name of the late cartoonist Corky Trinidad.
