Random Comics News Story Round-Up

image* Alex Thomas on The Bawdy Tales Of Lazlo Cale. Richard Bruton on The Immortal Hulk #1.

* I guess these sorts of bells and whistle appeal to some folks out there, particularly when serial comics suffer from a deserved perception that most of them cost way too much for the value of the experience provided. The comic book that I read was so achingly dull and uninspired and rote I can't imagine wanting to extend that experience, though.

* let David Lasky's cartoon drawings remind that we all need to take care of ourselves in the warm days ahead.

* somehow missed this post on the first round of Lucy Shelton Caswell research award winners. Frank Santoro is probably the familiar name there for most people, but all of the proposals sound solid. I am all for every last thing in comics that offers up cash money and support for use of comics institutions to do comics-related things. We don't have a safety net, and we don't have a structured industry, but comics can provide a bit of a framework for itself through the smart application of the resources available to it. It'd be neat to win something with Lucy's name on it.

* Shaenon Garrity talks to Lisa Hanawalt. Ben Yakas talks to Julia Wertz. Team Comics Alternative talks to Karl Stevens.

* here's Jesse Hamm on photo reference.

* finally: Michel Fiffe and Chuck Forsman converse.
