News: About Comics Announces 24-Hour Comics Day Promotion
posted August 4, 2004

August 4 -- About Comics Publisher Nat Gertler, who took Scott McCloud's notion of comics created in a 24-hour period from a competitive game to a full-on celebratory day and corresponding publishing venture, announced April 23rd as next year's event date. The date was chose because of its proximity to 4/24, and it being on a Saturday, which will allow participants to have the rest of the weekend to rest up after the comics effort.

Gertler plans on announcing a series of event locations and even seeks product sponsors (food and drink, for example)for the participants. Gertler recently published 24 of 2004's efforts as a book, 24 Hour Comics Day Highlights 2004.
