To Be More Like Wonder Tot In All Things: CR's New Year's Resolutions
I don't really believe in sharing New Year's resolutions. I will admit to making them. I'm a list-maker and a goal-setter in the classic, obsessive sense despite a quarter-century filled with way too much time taking the unfinished items from one list and adding them to the new one. With
CR, we just hope to provide better service and more of it. It's our hope that by the end of 2010 the site you get to see the site we imagined in 2004, and I think there's a good chance we'll get there. Excelsior.

To that end, we'd like to encourage anyone interested in doing so the next few days or at any time in the future about anything you'd like to see us do more of, or better, or eliminate outright. I know we still have RSS troubles, although nobody has complained in a while, and I feel in my gut there are areas where we can provide much better coverage, like on-line comics. We appreciate your input whenever we're lucky enough to get it, and I hope you'll feel free about piping up.
One resolution I will make is personal. I've been at times extremely awful about communicating with people and keeping promises as to specific coverage, and then getting buried and not answering follow-up e-mail. I hope to eliminate that noxious behavior in 2010, and I hope any and all of you affected will accept my apology for 2009 -- or for any time earlier -- when that was an unfortunate part of standard operating procedure.

The year 2010 should present a lot of interesting stories for comics.
DC will name the other half of its new executive team. Both DC and
Marvel should make noticeable adjustments in light of their new ownership situations. Digital publishing will remain a vital issue for all comics publishers. The utility and value of conventions has changed forever these last few years and a bunch of stories should leap to life from that area of comics. Dan Clowes
will have a new book out this year, and we should get comics series collections (or the beginnings of same) featuring
King Aroo,
Wash Tubbs and Captain Easy and
Pogo. A
second collection track for Cul De Sac...
Marshal Law and
Artichoke Tales collections... new works from Dash Shaw and Darwyn Cooke... another
Little Nothings, the sixth
Scott Pilgrim, more
RASL... there should be any number of terrific comics to read. We hope to stand witness to all of it. Thank you for making us a tiny part of your experience with the greatest art form going.
Happy New Year!
