Drew Seldin on Mike Scigliano No Longer Being at Wizard Entertainment
posted September 20, 2007

Saw the article and I have one question for you, in the email you sent me you listed the following:

Mike Scigliano (Conventions; gave notice)

Then in your story you wrote:

Mike Scigliano (Conventions; gave notice rather than being let go)

What is up with the editorializing? Where is that information coming from? What did you base that on?

Very uncool to basically make something up in your story. Needless to say I am disappointed you chose to do that.

As I pointed out in the article in an update, I wasn't making anything up, I wanted to make the distinction between giving notice and being let go stronger -- this is something I would appreciate if I gave notice in roughly the same period people were being let go. I based it on the fact that if you give notice, you can't be let go. I suppose that it could be inferred by my choice of phrasing that Mr. Scigliano was given a choice between giving notice or being let go. Making such a distinction wasn't my intent, and I apologize for that lack of clarity.

I hope in the future Wizard Entertainment seeks the maximum amount of clarity by reporting important staffing changes to the press on their own, where they can select the phrasing that makes the most sense to them.
