Brad Curran on Marvel’s Dollar Digests

I've seen those dollar digests at Walmart as well as Family Dollar. They're in the toy section. It would be nice if they were right next to the action figures, but hey, it's something. I wound up picking up the Fantastic Four one, because I'd never read the early issues of that title, despite being a Silver Age Marvel afficienado. It would be interesting to see how well they've done. I haven't seen anything from Marvel trumpeting their success, but I haven't been looking, as I avoid ignore press releases now that Fanboy Rampage isn't around to mock them. If nothing else, it is oddly nice to see these comics in a package that makes them a disposable impulse buy. I'm still shocked that DC or Marvel haven't tried the Shonen Jump format yet, but at least they're trying something beyond the $2.99 single issue.
