Leif Jones on Being Locked Into Comic Relief

"Winner of the Week
Rory Root of Comic Relief: just look at that store. It's like the first comic shop you could be locked in overnight without it turning into an Eli Roth movie."

At first I didn't't know who Eli Roth was, but that's why there's an Internet Movie Database, right? I wish the comic book version www.comicbookdb.com was as comprehensive - I'm doing my part (97 entries so far, although a good many of them self-serving). Anyway, locked inside a comic book store overnight reminded me of the John Hughes movie "Career Opportunities" in which the characters (played by Jennifer Connelly, Frank Whaley, and Dermot Mulroney) were locked inside a Target department store overnight. I once had a dream that I was trapped inside a Wal-Mart-like store along with other people who also couldn't pay the $17.95 fee to leave! I'm working on a comic adaptation of that dream, except the store (and the story) - which has pretty much everything a human doesn't need - will be called MADE IN CHINA.

And why I wrote all this I don't know (except that I miss Berkeley because Comic Relief was such a awesome store). I hope this at least has some entertainment value.
