The Altan who passed away was not the cartoonist (Francesco Tullio Altan), it was his father, the anthropologist - not an architect - Carlo Tullio Altan. The only press release i could find on the subject is the following: http://www.adnkronos.com/IGNDispacci/20050216/ADN20050216111135.htm (in italian, of course)

It was sad to notice how little attention was given to this by the local press, considering how he was one of the most important figures in modern cultural anthropology. And yes, if i'm not wrong, he was also the cartoonist's father.
