Tucson Con Turned Down Wizard Deal

An article in the Tucson-area student newspaper Arizona Daily Wildcat on this weekend's comics show bearing the city's name offers an interesting hook: organizer Mike Olivares talks about turning down Wizard's overture to make the show part of its procession of area conventions, what enticed him about the deal and what discouraged him. In fact, that should be "overtures," as Olivares was formally contacted twice.

An appearance by writer John Layman and a screening of the Grant Morrison documentary Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods are among the headlining features of this year's show. Also discussed is the show's potential to move into a bigger space and a two-day schedule starting in 2011.
