Mark Badger on the Absurdity of Busting on Zuda’s Use of Flash

Having worked with DC on Piranha Press back in the dark ages, it's pretty hilarious for me of all people to stand up for DC but, giving them crap about Flash is just absurd and so 2001, the web comics people out to be embarrassed.
I make most of my living off of Flash and teaching Flash these days so maybe I'm biased, but YouTube runs on Flash. YouTube seems pretty viral to me. I suspect YouTube is as successful if not more successful then most webcomics out there.
The loading times are because they put in pictures that work best at full screen not the tiny little size it's embedded at. Note the jaggies at small size that disappear full screen. If anything I would fault them for not pointing out how cool the full screen experience is, and really the optimal way to read their comics. Yes they should have stuck some bigger clue that when you went full screen there was navigation at the bottom and it's to small. I missed it my first time through the interface. But reading comics in that mode is pretty damn cool.
And if you could use the keyboard to navigate the interface in full screenmode they would have the best comics reading on screen possible. But thats Adobe's fault for disabling the keyboard in the full screenmode, not DC's. I know I'm digging through the Help section in Flash on full screen tonight and pushing full screen on more clients tomorrow.
