"WOMEN OF COLOR IN COMICS AND MANGA" PANEL AT THE MUSEUM OF COMIC AND CARTOON MANHATTAN: On Monday, November 12 at 7 p.m., the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, in conjunction with Friends of Lulu and the Ormes Society, will host an event entitled Women of Color in Comics and Manga. Ormes Society founder Cheryl Lynn Eaton will moderate a panel featuring three illustrious illustrators who are currently working in the comic book industry. Alitha Martinez, known for her work on books such as Iron Man and Thor, will be on hand to discuss her time at Marvel Comics, as well as her latest independent project Yume and Ever. Jenny Gonzalez, creator of the Too Negative series and contributor to the House of Twelve anthology, will elaborate on her experience as an independent cartoonist. Finally, Rashida Lewis, creator of the comic series Sand Storm, will speak about her work in the comics arena and her experiences moving into the realm of animation.
There will be a lively Q&A session with the audience, and admission is free to this Women & Comics/MoCCA Mondays event.
MoCCA is at 594 Broadway (between Houston and Prince Streets), suite 401; take the B/D/F/6 to Broadway-Lafayette Street or the R/W to Prince Street.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to the preservation, study and display of all forms of comic and cartoon art. The museum promotes greater understanding and appreciation of the artistic, cultural and historical significance of comic and cartoon art through a variety of events, exhibitions and educational programs. MoCCA exhibitions are generally open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 12 to 5 p.m. General admission to the museum is $5 but free for MoCCA members, as well as children 12 and under when accompanied by paying adults.
