They're calling it "the most acclaimed graphic novel of all time" rather than "the greatest," and in terms of mainstream press as the barometer, they're probably not wrong. Only graphic novel to make Time's Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century, etc. It was #13 on EW's list of the Top Books of the Past 25 years. (Maus beat it, though.) I mean, it's neck and neck with Maus, basically, and because the Jeff Jensens of the world are enormous fanboys it's going to beat Maus right now in terms of the kind of press that would care about a Watchmen movie anyway.
