Matthew Dube on Frank Stack Art Being Exhibited
posted August 6, 2008

I thought some CR readers might be interested to know that the University of Missouri's George Caleb Bingham Gallery is currently hosting a show of some of Frank Stack's work, alongside I think three other former profs at the University, as part of a "lifetime achievement showcase."

Stack's non-comics work is really beautiful stuff, but there are a couple comics pages up as well, some funny notes about working with Gilbert Shelton, etc. There's also a smaller case of some other comics materials in the hallway just outside the gallery that anyone who came to the show to see Stack's work would likely also appreciate.

I was at the show this morning, and thought it was pretty great, even though I see Stack's work a lot around town, and the man himself only a little less frequently. He is a treasure, and this show is totally worth it.
