CHARLOTTE COMICS SHOP HOSTS "WANTED" WRITER, MORE
Mark Millar and Tony Harris Appear Together In Support of New "War Heroes"

On Sunday, August 17th, Mark Millar and Tony Harris will do a store appearance at Charlotte comics shop Heroes Aren't Hard To Find, promoting their new book WAR HEROES. This signing is part of an 8-city U.S. and U.K. "Tour of Duty," with Charlotte being the only stop between New York and Texas.

Besides writing the graphic novel WANTED, Mark Millar also executive produced the recent hit movie. He's one of the most sought-after writers in comics, with hits like ULTIMATES, SUPERMAN: RED SON, and FANTASTIC FOUR to his credit. This is a rare U.S. visit for the Glaswegian writer, and Heroes is expecting a massive turnout at its store in the historic Elizabeth neighborhood. Artist Tony Harris is no stranger to Charlotte comics fans, as a perennial favorite guest at the yearly Heroes Convention. He's currently the artist on the critically acclaimed EX MACHINA, as well as SPIDER-MAN: WITH GREAT POWER, and the fan-favorite series STARMAN, on which he broke into comics in the early 90's.

WAR HEROES is the first collaboration between these two popular comics creators. The story is set in the present day, as the U.S. grapples with an increasingly unpopular war abroad. When the government offers scientifically-obtained "superpowers" to new military recruits, a group of 8 hatch a scheme to use these powers for another purpose. "...Imagine Three Kings or Ocean's 11 meets Captain America's super-soldier serum," said Millar in an interview with prominent pop culture site Newsarama.com. "There's posters everywhere saying 'BE THE WEAPON' as a means of recruiting thousands of new super-soldiers."

Mark Millar and Tony Harris will be signing from 2-5 pm on Sunday, August 17 at Heroes Aren't Hard To Find, located at 1957 E. 7th Street in Charlotte's historic Elizabeth neighborhood. Numerous North Carolina based comics creators are expected to drop by, including Lucasfilm artist Tommy Lee Edwards, who is currently collaborating with Millar on the hit MARVEL: 1985.

In addition to the signing, Heroes will be holding a storewide sale all day, and will be open for extended hours, from 11am to 7pm.
