Kyle Garret On How Many Series The Legion Of Super-Heroes Have Had
posted September 30, 2008

Four.

Well, kind of.

You'll probably get different answers for this.

Their first title was formerly called Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes and then became Tales of the Legion as they had a second book launch with a new #1, a Baxter direct market book. That was technically their first #1 ongoing book. Tales eventually just reprinted stories until DC realized it was stupid to have a reprint book when all the fans were buying the direct market version. So I don't know if that would count as a canceled title, as the direct market book was still going.

The Baxter book did end and was re-launched.

The new ongoing ("Five Years Later") actually went on for quite sometime, as it didn't renumber post-Zero Hour. It also spawned a second book, "Legionnaires." Eventually, both books would get canceled.

"Legion" was the next new ongoing. It didn't last very long.

Mark Waid's version is the one that's coming to an end soon.

So four if you count actual "Legion of Superheroes" titles, six if you count "Tales" and "Legionnaires" and SEVEN if you count the cartoon version, "Legion of Superheroes in the 31st Century."

But then you'd probably have to count any other spin-offs, too, like the short lived "Valor" book.

I am a nerd.
