Katherine Kan On Minx Imprint’s Cancellation
posted October 4, 2008

I just wanted to let you know that this has been discussed on a couple of library listservs today, and what I've been reading in lots of posts from all over the country is that the books were indeed reaching their target audience in the libraries - teen girls. People didn't cite specific titles but said the books were getting checked out, were being read, and teen girls were making positive comments about the books.

And, at least in my town (Panama City, FL), only one local bookstore carried Minx titles, and then only in the graphic novel section, where the single copy or two were spined out and lost among all the other books. So whatever marketing efforts were going on they weren't reaching all the local store locations of the various chains.

I am very disappointed at this news. I like almost all the titles that have been published, and most recently read Emiko Superstar by Mariko Tamaki (which I love) and The New York Four (which I also love).
