Dave Kellett Of Sheldon On George McManus’ Home on LA’s Sunset Boulevard
posted February 6, 2010

I wanted to write and thank you, and pass along some interesting followup info:

Being an LA resident myself, I'd been trying to track down George McManus' two Los Angeles homes recently, and perked up when you recently linked to the addresses of "famous cartoonists" in the 1930's.

As a fun followup, I thought you'd be interested to see that McManus' house -- in what was no doubt a swanky address back then, on Sunset -- is now a series of shops, and across the street from the Hustler store, and down the block from the Viper Room and Whisky A-Go-Go. It's more than a little depressing. Still, you get a sense of how nice the house must've been in Depression-era California.

Thanks, as always, for all the work you do!
