Alex Ross Signing at Chicago Comics
The sensational, award-winning artist Alex Ross signs at Chicago Comics in promotion of his DC Comics sketchbook hardcover, Rough Justice, on Saturday, June 5th 2010 from 3-5pm.
Rough Justice is a behind-the-scenes look at the stunning black-and-white drawings of the DC characters you love, from Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Black Canary, and many more. All of Alex Ross’s extraordinary, hyper-realistic paintings start as pencil on paper, and some of them never get beyond that stage. None of these hundreds of graphite sketches has ever been published before, and most of them will make their only published appearance in Rough Justice.
Alex Ross studied illustration at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and then honed his craft as a storyboard artist before entering the comic book field. His 1993 miniseries Marvels created a wider acceptance for painted comics. He moved on to DC to produce the equally successful Kingdom Come, the Earth X projects for Marvel, and a series of tabloids for DC Comics, which have been collected in The World's Greatest Super Heroes. Receiving critical acclaim and multiple awards for these best-selling works, Ross made a name as both an artist and a storyteller, dedicating himself to bold experiments within the comics medium. Most recently he has worked on Superpowers for Dynamite Entertainment and The Torch for Marvel
Attendees are welcome to bring items from outside the store to have signed by Alex Ross. We will have copies of Rough Justice in stock as well as a selection of his other works. Each attendee can have up to 4 items signed. We advise people to arrive early.
