Not to defend Marvel, but I'm guessing that the reason that the company name is in front of the title is to formally (legally?) distinguish it from the British TV series "The Avengers" and the film version of same (with Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes) from the mid-1990s. Just my guess.
