Jog On The Current State Of The Anime Market As It Relates (Or Doesn’t) To Manga

Anime's been a thorough shitshow for years now, at least in terms of money getting to people who actually make animation -- note how that post you linked to equates "vendors" entirely with anime culture merchandise. Money for actual animation is pretty much off the table now, both from devastating, epidemic piracy, and the reluctance of Japanese production companies to settle for lower prices, given the shrinking niche status of the domestic scene, which survives almost entirely on $80 DVDs and official merch (probably not what those vendors are dealing).

I think it's all less analogous to manga reading than being a superhero fan in Portugal...
