Josh Leto On Dave Sim And Patreon
posted March 31, 2014

I would like to opine that Dave Sim is a great candidate for Patreon fundraising. Seeing as he is someone who usually creates strong feelings in reaction to his own opinions, I tried to stick to fact-based reasons for someone to support him through Patreon. I have opted not to do so at this point, mostly because I made a small contribution via his Kickstarter last year.

So, four reasons Dave Sim fits well with the Patreon method:

1. He has set a bar for regular production at a particular level of craft.
2. He tends to work on projects that have middling commercial value (at best). So it seems unlikely that he will "take the money and run" if he sees greener pastures.
3. He is fairly transparent about what he spends his money on. Even we he was enjoying the rock star lifestyle in the 80s and 90s, he was fairly open about that.
4. He is not shy about letting his politics define his audience, so that anyone who likes to know what type of person they're supporting doesn't have to wonder about it.

I don't know if I'll be contributing, but if I do, I know what I don't have to worry about.
