Michel Kichka Wins Chevalier Des Arts Et Des Lettres Honor

According to a news brief as the French-language news clearinghouse, the Belgian-born Israeli cartoonist Michel Kichka was granted the rank of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in a private ceremony. I don't know how many cartoonists -- or frankly, people -- are granted that honor, but Kichka's a figure worth noting for his central role in Israel cartooning as a working cartoonist and teacher (Rutu Modan was one of his students) and for his true international cartoonist status publishing in multiple languages (his English-language site is here) and through multiple industries. In addition to his political cartooning, Kichka's apparently done a book about his parents' holocaust experiences to be published in France 2012.
