100 Comics Positives For 2013: Peter Bagge Back In The Spotlight… For A Serious Biography



Peter Bagge is a fine cartoonist and a hero of American comedy. While he's done plenty of work with politically-informed material, none of those comics were as involved as his book with Drawn and Quarterly in 2013, Woman Rebel. A biography of pioneering birth control and reproductions rights advocate Margaret Sanger, what was great about Woman Rebel is how much Bagge didn't shy away from employing his comedic gifts in order to humanize someone usually seen as a towering, imposing historical figure. Meet us back here this time next year for the beginning of a year-long celebration of Bagge's titanic Hate comic book series on its 25th anniversary.
