Alison Bechdel Thinks Subscriptions
Alison Bechdel of Dykes to Watch Out Forseems to be mulling over a subscription model for her strip. Although I've read a lot of criticism of sub-only models as largely not working -- despite some examples to the contrary -- this seems to be a question of a premium offering rather than a wholesale switch away from what's being provided now. In addition, Bechdel has a really devoted audience gained over an extensive publishing history, an audience that might be more willing than usual to spend $25 a year in support of the artist.
