By Request Extra: Maybe Buy Some Stuff From Johnny Ryan

The cartoonist Johnny Ryan will be appearing at the Fantagraphics booth doing signings mid-afternoon on Friday and Saturday. Ryan's one of those cartoonists that makes great use of Comic-Con International despite the fact that the show has in some ways shifted away from the kinds of folks that might be into the comics that Ryan does. Those of his fans still on hand usually get access to a bunch of new work: published, self-published or in the original art category. Prison Pit is really a Comic-Con book in a lot of ways; it's the first place I saw it, and how enthusiastically the volumes have been received by that series' fans has been most apparent at an event like that one. So if you're around, you might consider making a point of checking out what Ryan has on display. If you're not, Ryan also has a super-active on-line presence; his originals are extremely attractive.
