Bundled, Tossed, Untied And Stacked
By Tom Spurgeon

* Darryl Cunningham
will debut a new serial at the
Act-I-Vate site in 2012.

* there was a pretty big item of mainstream comics-related publishing news last week, in the form of
word that the writer Brian Bendis is ending his close association with Marvel's
Avengers franchise. Bendis confirmed his A-list mainstream comics writing status on an extended, relaunch-heavy run that brought Wolverine and Spider-Man into the fold and served as the anchor for the company's various, successful, mid-decade mini-series. Pay attention to anyone new that might settle into some of those titles for more than a few issues as a potential next major Marvel guy, although for some reason I bet they let those books settle into a number of hands for a while.
* here's big news from the other company, at least in some households:
Tiny Titans ends with #50, and the creators are being spirited away into a new Superman Family gig. Lots of little kids love that
Tiny Titans.
* I can't find a direct link, but the front page of the Exhibit A Press web site -- they do the Wolff & Byrd stuff,
Supernatural Law -- indicates
they're expanding their digital offerings.
*
what's in the Wally Wood Artist's Edition album coming from IDW.
*
Bart Sears has a sketchbook coming out.
* Michael DeForge's site is a constant stream of "what's coming next," like
this post about an odd-looking anthology effort.
*
hey, it's an Eddie Campbell e-book!
*
this nice person asked me to pay some link attention to their Kickstarter campaign. And so I have.
* another mainstream comics note of interest:
Joe Harris in, Gail Simone out on the
Firestorm property. Simone leaving the title was rumored from almost the exact second the first issue of that relaunched title hit. I couldn't possibly tell you why that is, or even if the rumors preceded actual movement in that direction.
*
a preview of the next Judith Vanistendael at FPI.
*
The Comic Book History Of Comics will be collected by IDW.
* Graeme McMillan notes that one of this year's Free Comic Book Day offerings
will be a book.
*
a good, old-fashioned, team vs. team plot line seems to me like it could serve Marvel Comics pretty well. Admittedly, I'm still a bit confused trying to unpack fan reaction to
Fear Itself.
* Austin English
has expanded the Domino Books distribution offerings.
* there's
a comic by Matt Fraction and Nathan Fox in the current issue of
GQ.
* finally, Kim Thompson
brings the happy news that there's a new
Squa Tront this spring.
