The news that Pantheon is doing a digital version at the same time -- its first such effort on behalf of something in their graphic novel division and a possible model for future such books in that format, decided on a case-by-case basis -- seems secondary to the more fundamental act that is the book's arrival in any form whatsoever. At the very least, it indicates that 2011 will be yet another year in comics' strong run of such, both in terms of publications from talents of all types and the astounding run of books from the alt-comics generation that came of age in the 1990s.
