Cartoon Riots in Bangladesh Friday
Bangladeshi police used batons to break up a 2000-person public protest in the city of Dhaka Friday, a demonstration related to the Arifur Rahman cartoon featuring the named Muhammed being used for a cat. Rahman remains in jail after being put there by authorities citing both the offense and Bangladeshi law that allows people to be jailed if they put society into disarray. Protesters and others angered at the cartoon are calling for the arrest of the editor and publisher, as well as the closure of the publication.
