Cartoonist Mohamed al-Amin Still Missing In Libya
The well-covered freeing of four
New York Times journalists -- Anthony Shadid, Stephen Farrell, Lynsey Addario and Tyler Hicks -- and their subsequent border crossing into Tunisia
has provided a window for the Committee To Protect Journalists to remind world media that several Libyan journalists have been missing since late February. Most are believed to have been critical of the regime and practices of the current Libyan government, a few are believed to have been detained not for their own work but for appearing on al-Jazeera television in a critical role. You can read a running tally of actions taken against journalists in the conflict
here. I know nothing about al-Amin except that he's from Benghazi.
