Comics Collectibles Legal Battle

This story of money owed for comics in Michigan
sounds like a screwy story all around... why on earth would anyone sign a note guaranteeing the sale of certain comics before the sale takes place and without having the money? It seems like this is the kind of thing that routinely gets handled without such a promise. The collectibles market can be a strange enough place, what with its bleedover of values into comics that are obviously not collectible except by a kind of willful fiat, that a story like this can't be welcome for those that conduct themselves in a more honest fashion.
