CR Week In Review

imageThe top comics-related news stories from January 7 to January 13, 2012:

1. A recent attempt by the Mumbai police department to silence an Indian cartoonist by going after the company that hosts his cartoons may or may not be part of a wider campaign against certain kinds of speech in that country.

2. December 2011 direct market estimates suggest a bunch that's intriguing about the current status of comics sales, including a return to market share winning by Marvel, DC's thin skin in publicly processing that information, and the general weakness of the comics market despite the resounding success many stores had selling New 52 DC Comics this Fall.

3. The National Cartoonists Society adds an on-line comics award to its divisional honors.
