CR Week In Review
The top comics-related news stories from April 26 to May 2, 2008:
1. A fund for hospitalized retailer David Pirkola
gains momentum.
2. Iron Man movie
opens, Marvel's first under its new self-producing and funding arrangement.
3. Stumptown Comics Fest 2008 in Portland
marks the kick-off of the regional comics art festival calendar, a week after NYCC marked a ramping up in the traditional comics convention schedule.
Winner Of The Week
Sarah Glidden
Loser Of The Week
Despite this site's punting of news that the ExpoMart where it's traditionally held is being torn down (only part of it, and not the applicable part, is),
it doesn't sound like things went well with Pittsburgh's convention last weekend.
Quote Of The Week
That's the point of comics -- they don't have to die, because they're fictional creations... We can do anything with them, and we can make them come back and make them defy death... And that's why people read comics, to get away from the way life works, which is quite cruel and unheroic and ends in death." --
Grant Morrison in one of a mini-wave of DC-driven articles about Flash being brought back from the dead
