CR Week In Review

imageThe top comics-related news stories from November 26 to December 2, 2011:

1. Dark Horse Comics announces that it will release comics digitally the same day as it does the print version, starting December 14. This further entrenches the same-day digital/print strategy as comics' current default approach.

2. Alex Cox is named deputy director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, giving that organization better access to his full set of skills and how they allow for others in the organization to pursue different aims according to their own skill sets.

3. The Brooklyn Comics And Graphics Festival basically closes the 2011 convention and comics show season; announcement of the programming at 2012's Angouleme Festival opens 2012's season.

Winner Of The Week
Alex Cox

Losers Of The Week
All of those companies not quite on board with a digital strategy as of yet; they'll react to, not define the current digital marketplace.

Quote Of The Week
"Not true! Far from true!" -- the great Jack Davis at The Strand on December 1, a day before his 87th birthday, to an assertion from an audience member at his book signing that he's one of the greatest cartoonists of all time.
