Creators Buys Copley News Service

imageCreators Syndicate has announced its purchase of Copley News Service from Copley Press, and Editor & Publisher walks through the whys and wherefores of the deal. Basically, the reasons for the sale were economic concerns and a desire to concentrate on core businesses on Copley's end meeting Creators' long-standing interest in the company and increasing the reach of its syndicated offerings. One interesting thing about it is that they'll basically freeze the Copley offerings in place for six months to a year before making any decision on content providers. Among the cartoonists represented in the market by Copley are Michael Ramirez, Steve Breen and Scott Stantis.
