Go, Look: George Butler’s Watercolors From Syria These George Butler watercolors and drawings from the Syrian town of Azaz border communicate the dire situation facing the people with whom Butler met during his recent sojourn into that wrecked nation. I'm not a great fan of how that material is presented. Butler's drawings are evocative to the point that loading up all of those photos early on feels like someone's just messing with you for no good reason. On the other hand, maybe the most compelling images here are the photos of Butler's workspace, with the generous gift of breakfast placed among the art supplies and bullets. Anyway, I thought that more than worth the time spent. I look forward to poking around his web site.
