Go, Read: David Harper On The Diminishing Coverage Of Artists In The Creation Of Mainstream Comics
Here. This is an interesting story, although not a shockingly new one -- it's something people have been talking about for five or six years in just this current formulation of the argument. Harper covers a lot of the factors involved. I think all of us that cover comics could do a
better job of crediting artists, even those of us that might do okay. There are difficulties even if you have a nuanced grasp of what an artist can do because divided-labor comics differ almost issue to issue, team to team, and maybe even page to page in terms of who does what. But we can get to a better place, and should pay greater attention to these factors. It can only improve the writing, and lead to greater insight.
