Go, Read: Nick Gillespie On Steve Benson’s Post-Tucson Cartoons

If you've suspected that some less than inspired work was done by mainstream-publication editorial cartoonists on the Tucson shootings, you might enjoy reading Nick Gillespie's
withering walk-through the post-shooting work of one of those cartoonists, Steve Benson of the
Arizona Republic. Gillespie makes a bunch of good points -- even Benson's biggest fans will likely wince at the bracelet -- and while I'm not as hostile towards that group of cartoons as Gillespie is, and think that Benson's home-paper proximity to the incident casts any cartoons he might do in a much different light than someone working a half-continent away, I'm thankful that someone is holding individual artists' feet to the fire that way. I do wonder if anyone really distinguished themselves with a similar run of cartoons.
