Go, Read: Patrick Rosenkranz Talks To Gilbert Shelton
With multiple pieces of writing in books that will be in libraries for the next 75 years a primary resources on an amazing generation of cartoonists, Patrick Rosenkranz is having an all-time year for writers-about-comics. I enjoyed
this Gilbert Shelton interview, in part
because Shelton doesn't seem to be in the mood for the kind of expansive answers that these talks provide. We have almost no time left to honor the underground generation, and I hope everyone will be open to anything that crosses their path that does so. They reclaimed personal expression in comics on a much, much wider scale than 1960s America encouraged and allowed. Plus many of them -- like Shelton -- were terrific cartoonists.
