Kodansha Announces New Publicity Direction, Liceninsing With RH/Del Rey Ends; Middaugh Part Of Team

imageOn December 1, Kodansha USA becomes an active manga publishing outfit, switching from a licensing agreement with Random House to a services agreement for series and titles they will now publish. They will take over publication of various Del Rey manga titles on a title by title basis, which I suppose means they'll have access to all of them and will be making decisions as to which ones they'll continue to publish and how so and when on the merits and potential of each one. The PR says the current relationship has been in existence since 2003. The very smart, competent and likable Dallas Middaugh will be part of the Random House Publisher Services team servicing the Kodansha books.

It's almost a year to the day the original Kodansha Comics announcement was made. And to be honest, I have no idea if the new series will be done under the Kodansha Comics imprint or something else.
